Bill

You've probably been wondering who this Bill person is that you keep hearing about. I am lucky enough to be the girlfriend of one Bill Helfinstine, and since he is so much a part of me I thought it only fitting to give him a page in the About Me section.

I have a self-confessed geek fetish so when my friend Judy told me she had a couple of available MIT alum's living in her building I said "Oh Judy, I have a total geek fetish. Hook me up." And so she did.

This is Bill. He's very tall. He's a programmer - I'm sorry, software engineer - for Lockheed Martin. He makes war simulations or something. He graduated from MIT with a degree in computer science and a few classes short of a double major in electrical engineering. What's the difference between CS and EE you might ask? Find out here.

Anyway, while at MIT he was part of the fraternity TEP and still keeps in touch with many of his class mates. I must say, they are the funnest, quirkiest individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Bill's amazing. He's sweet and thoughtful and when I'm grumpy he doesn't try to fix it or talk me out of it - he just asks, "What can I do to make you happier right now?" No man has ever asked me that before.

We go lots of places and have lots of fun. He's always up for anything - he likes to do fun things and have new experiences. I've never heard him utter a grouchy word about anything. The only time he gets grumpy is when he doesn't eat. Give him some sugar and he perks right up. He's so very very nice. I'm having a wonderful time. It's so nice to be with someone I'm not constantly mad at. Bill's also very easy going, I just don't think you can make him mad. He takes everything in stride, and is sooooo incredibly humble. He's exceptionally bright yet doesn't use big words to show off and never belittles people.

I keep telling my single girlfriends: go hang out at MIT or Stanford or your nearest geek school - geeks are the best untapped resource of available men.

I'm the luckiest girl in the world. I don't know what I did to deserve him but I'm glad I did.
