SF Bay Area, Thanksgiving 2003

Bill and I went out to the Bay Area for Thanksgiving. I stayed with my bestest friend Alexia in Santa Clara while he stayed with his old college friend - a physicist called Perlick - in Oakland.

Alexia's friend Liz (aka "Squatter") has been staying with her since October so we 3 girls had a jolly old time gossiping about boys, relationships and life over many bottles of wine. The boys came and joined us each night.

Alexia had met this guy online (we'll call him Internet Boy) back in October but he disappeared. Well, the day before I got there she went on a date with him. And then Squatter and Perlick hooked up. And the whole week I was there we partied and made out with our respective boy toys.

Alexia and Squatter said I came to town and spread my Magic Love Dust™ and that caused to sudden onset of romance. Maybe. Maybe not. But it sure was fun.

Bill and I went to the Muir Woods one day and saw the big giant redwoods. Later on we went to Los Gatos because I needed a reiki treatment and then dinner. That same night Alexia was on date #2 with Internet Boy and Liz decorated the apartment with all sorts of signs and drawings.

Thanksgiving was spent at Alexia's parent's house in Walnut Creek. Her dad is a professionally trained French chef and needless to say the food was *incredible*, even to this picky eater. I'm STILL thinking about the appetizer we had, a delightful concoction of Russian pancake with capers and a cream sauce (and salmon for the normal people).

Friday, I went to the bakery to help Alexia decorate some cakes and make some recommendations to spruce up their show-room and graphic design related things. That afternoon I went with Bill to this brother's house where we hung out with his sister-on-law and nephew and ate Indian food.

Saturday it was back home. Although it was a week it seemed like a real whirlwind trip. But it was fun! I had never spent any real time in the Bay Area so it was fun to see all the dot coms and where Tivos are made.
