In September Bill and I went to yet another TEP wedding, this time for Indy and Marketa. The festivities were held at Earthdance, a hippie retreat of sorts in the Berkshire Mountains in western MA.

We arrive late Friday night. We stayed in the Main House along with the other TEPs. This place was wild! Very communal. The rooms all have multiple cots and futons set up so 4 - 10 people share the same room. We went to the large room down the hall where we hung out and drank 20 year old port out of coffee cups.
Saturday was the day of the festivities. We got up late and missed coffee, so we ran out to the local store and got some coffee. When we got back the wedding was already in progress and felt incredibly stupid for showing up late. The groom and wedding party all wore kilts. And apparently, it is true - no underwear is worn with a kilt. Hmmmm.
For the next 12 hours everyone just hung out and partied and reconnected. The reception was held outside under a tent where there was a large potluck buffet and a wheelbarrow of meat. A bunch of the guys played frisbee on the lawn. The wedding cake was a traditional Swedish wedding cake which by far was the most delicious cake I have had in my life. It consists of a large dome-shaped cake surrounded by smaller dome-shaped cakes. The cakes are a simple yellow cake with jam, custard and whipped cream covered with a marzipan icing. Ooooooh it was so delightful. What make this particular cake so amazing was even though it was very rich and sweet, it didn't seem overly rich or sweet. I just couldn't stop eating it.
That night most of the people went into the dance hall while 8 or so of us hung outside by the fire and drank some awesome homebrew made by T-Stop.
Earthdance was a fun experience. It's so crunchy and hippie-ish. It was a great wedding because it was unpretentious and low key.
